Imagine your shoot is done and you’ve received your digital photo gallery! You’re looking through your images when you stop because you’ve come across the perfect photo for your fireplace mantle, gallery wall or bedroom nighttable. Now it’s time to get that digital file printed and you have no clue where to start.
People often contact me as a Toronto photographer looking for tips and tricks to get the highest quality print of their favourite photos. Today I’m sharing my most asked questions and my best recommendations so that you can go from a digital file to a framed image in your home easily and quickly.

Q: Can I print the photos you take and send to me?
A: Absolutely! These photos are created for you. After our session and once everything is completed, if you decide you want to enlarge or resize certain photos for printing, don’t hesitate to reach out and I can help you ensure the quality and crop are perfect. I love seeing my photos displayed on people’s walls and would love to help you get the best quality image for print!
Q: Where should I go to get my photos printed?
A: In Toronto, I recommend these reliable and top-quality companies:
Q: I want to make a photo album, what company should I use?
A: My favorite is Pikto, an amazing Canadian company. They often have great deals, and I particularly love their leather layflat photo albums. The site and edit software are user-friendly, making it easy to create a beautiful photo album. Website: Pikto
Q: Is there anything I should do/not do when ordering photo prints?
A: Avoid selecting options like “auto-edit,” “auto-correct,” or “auto-enhance” as these can apply filters that may ruin the outcome of the photo. I also recommend a matte finish over glossy, as glossy surfaces easily show dust and fingerprints. When handling your prints, consider wearing a cotton glove to ensure flawless, fingerprintless results.
Q: Where should I buy my photo frames from?
A: Look for deals at places like Homesense or Michael’s, as they often offer reasonably priced frames and occasionally have special discount offerings. I don’t recommend the dollar store due to their lower quality materials. Check Facebook Marketplace or thrift stores for budget-friendly options. Alternatively, consider ordering prints that don’t require framing, such as canvas or gun-metal, or personalize your own frame on most printing sites.
As a GTA photographer, nothing makes me happier than hearing that a photo of mine has made it onto someone’s wall. These tips and tricks should help you get the highest quality print in the shortest amount of time so you can proudly display your beautiful images easily.
